Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline, has achieved a significant milestone in its operational safety standards by obtaining the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate in 2017. This achievement was followed by the airline’s admission as a member of IATA, solidifying its commitment to safety and excellence.
Initially, Air Peace’s fleet consisted of three Dornier 328 aircraft for charter services and four Boeing 737-500 aircraft, which catered to its growing customer base. However, as demand exceeded capacity, the airline upgraded to the 136-seater Boeing 737-300 aircraft, adding eight units to its fleet between 2015 and 2017. An additional Boeing 737-500 was acquired in 2016 to support operations.
In response to public demand for extended services to unserved and underserved domestic and regional routes, Air Peace launched its ‘No-City-Left-Behind’ project under its subsidiary, Air Peace Hopper, with the addition of six 50-seater Embraer 145 jets to its fleet in 2018.
As Air Peace continued to push boundaries, it achieved another major feat in 2017 by obtaining its International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate, followed by its admission as a member of IATA. This milestone solidified the airline’s commitment to safety and excellence, further bolstering its reputation as a leader in the Nigerian aviation industry.

In a remarkable feat, Air Peace has grown to become Nigeria’s largest and preferred airline in just five years, carrying over a third of the country’s total passengers in 2018. As part of its expansion plans, the airline made history on the West Coast of Africa by signing an agreement with Boeing on September 13, 2018, for the delivery of 10 brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. This milestone paves the way for Air Peace’s entry into European destinations such as Frankfurt, Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris and Milan, solidifying its position as a leading airline in the region.

The airline made history as the first and only airline in the sub-region to order the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft into its fleet. Building on this achievement, the airline set a new continental record on April 3, 2019, by ordering 13 brand new Embraer E195-E2 jets, with options to purchase an additional 17. This significant expansion project aims to increase Air Peace’s fleet size to 63 aircraft, comprising B737-300/500, B777, and Embraer 145 jets. The goal is to modernize the fleet, enhance fuel efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and maintain dispatch reliability. With this development, Air Peace has become the largest fleet operator in Nigeria and West Africa. As a 100% family-owned business led by Chairman/CEO Allen Onyema, Air Peace is driven by a passion to create employment opportunities, provide affordable and reliable flight services, and promote connectivity across the region.

Air Peace became the first and only airline in the sub-region to go for that aircraft type. Soon after the huge feat, the carrier again raised the bar in fleet expansion on April 3, 2019, as it set a continental record when it signed an order for 13 brand new Embraer E195-E2 jets, with purchase rights for another 17 of the same aircraft type. The massive project to increase our fleet of B737-300/500, B777 and Embraer 145 Jets to 63 is part of the carrier’s plans to reflect and phase out its older (classic) aircraft, and achieve fuel efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and maintain dispatch reliability. Air Peace now operates the biggest fleet in Nigeria and West Africa. Air Peace is 100 percent owned by Mr Allen Onyema, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, and his family. His motivation is to create employment opportunities for Nigerians, Africans and experts across the globe and guarantee quality on-time flight services at very affordable fares.
